DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Our guiding principles explain how we fulfill our mission by addressing what we do and the outcomes we expect. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. Our student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.

Q: Is this the club for me?
A: DECA is a club for students who are interested in marketing and business careers.  In middle school, we focus on the relationships you build with your peers while learning about marketing.  If you prefer competitions, this may not be the club for you.  There are a limited number of spots and priority if given to 8th graders.

Q: Do I have to attend all the meetings?
A: No, but you should attend all meetings to get the most out of this club. You have to sign up for the meetings in flex time. We meet once a month during flex.

Q: What do we do at the meetings?
A:  Our meetings are focused on getting to know each other and hanging out.  We may have a few house-keeping items, but we try to learn about each other and marketing concepts in a fun way. We also do a monthly design competition. We announce the details and the winners at each meeting.

Q: Does everyone get to compete at state?
A: No, in order to qualify for state competition, a student must place at the regional competition hosted by Forsyth County. Unfortunately, Georgia DECA has discontinued our middle school events at state.

Q: Are there leadership opportunities?
A:  Yes, there will be leadership opportunities for 8th grade students.  If you are interested, please sign up for the interested officer meeting during flex. You will not apply for a position such as president, etc. You will apply to be a part of the officer team. We are not going to have positions this year. If you are passionate about DECA and want to help make the club better, then you can apply.
