Rebecca Hewitt, Principal
Welcome to Lakeside Middle School!
I am honored to serve as the principal of Lakeside Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year. With 21 years in education, I have served in various roles including a Social Studies teacher, Assistant Administrator, and Assistant Principal.
I hold both a bachelor's and master's degree from Valdosta State University, and an Ed.S. from Piedmont University.
Relationships are at the heart of my leadership, and I am committed to partnering with students, families, staff, and community members to support every child's success, passions, and interests. I truly believe that Life Is Better at the Lake, and I am excited to begin this journey together in the upcoming school year.

Lacey Gooch, Assistant Principal 6th Grade
I am honored to join the Lakeside family as an Assistant Principal and look forward to serving our students, staff, and families. This year marks my 18th year in education, all of which have been in Forsyth County Schools. I began my career as a math teacher at Otwell Middle School before joining DeSana Middle School, where I served as a teacher, instructional technology specialist, and assistant administrator. I then moved to North Forsyth Middle School, serving as an assistant administrator for two years before transitioning to assistant principal at Matt Elementary School, where I have spent the past two years.
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education from North Georgia College & State University, a Master’s Degree in Middle Grades Math and Science from Valdosta State University, and a Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. I also hold a Tier I Leadership Certification from the University of West Georgia and will begin Tier II Leadership certification through Kennesaw State University this fall.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons, as well as reading and playing the piano.

Mitch Lesinski, Assistant Principal 7th Grade
I am excited to serve as the 7th Grade Assistant Principal at Lakeside and bring 26 years of experience in education to this role. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about supporting students, empowering teachers, and fostering a safe and positive school culture. I believe that building strong relationships and maintaining open communication are at the heart of a successful school.
By partnering with students, families, staff, and the community, I strive to create an environment where every child can thrive academically and socially. I look forward to working together to ensure a rewarding and successful experience for all members of our Lakeside community.

Liz Rushton, Assistant Principal 8th Grade
I am excited to call Lakeside Middle School my home. This is my 22nd year in middle school and my 8th year as an Assistant Principal. I previously taught middle school math and served as a coach for the Academic Bowl and Math Teams. In my time outside of school, I love spending time with my daughter, Libbey, as well as playing tennis and thrift store shopping!
I am truly honored to be a part of the Lakeside Middle School family, where we work with staff, families, and the community to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Let us embark on this journey together, forging pathways of kindness that will shape our students into compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
